E-Learning @ FAA within the College of Fine + Applied Arts at UIUC is focused on using design and technology to elevate education in the arts. We design online and blended courses, help faculty and students use e-learning tools, and take a strategic approach to improving the course—and the overall FAA—experience.


Job Description


We’re looking for a creative, curious, and ambitious person to fill one academic hourly position.  

As a member of the E-Learning @ FAA team, the Academic Hourly will: 

  • Be responsible for design, development, management, and support of online courses as offered through the College of Fine and Applied Arts' six academic units—Architecture, Art + Design, Dance, Landscape Architecture, Music, Theatre, and Urban + Regional Planning.
  • Analyze instructional needs.
  • Provide expertise and assistance with innovative strategies to meet those needs.
  • Generally support course and program offerings.


At E-Learning @ FAA, we like to help our team members grow and develop professionally. To this end, the Academic Hourly will work with the Senior Instructional Designer to develop and lead a project that aligns with their professional goals.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Demonstrated experience in online curriculum building and web-based course development within an asynchronous learning environment. 
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience working on project teams and leading multiple project teams. 
  • Good understanding of online pedagogy. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing a course using a learning management system (LMS) or learning content management system (LCMS). 
  • Demonstrated experience developing HTML/CSS-based web pages. 
  • Experience producing multimedia (still images, audio, and video). 
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, compliance, and copyright laws. 
  • Proven ability to work with confidential and sensitive data in an educational environment. 
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Established track record of working independently as well as collaboratively with those with differing backgrounds and skills. 
  • Proven experience in managing tasks with different priorities.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree, preferably in education-related field.
  • Significant experience in online curriculum building and web-based course development within an asynchronous learning environment. 
  • Experience providing face-to-face training and workshops. 
  • Experience with remote meeting tools like Elluminate/Collaborate and Lync. 
  • Experience with social networking and collaboration tools (discussion forums, wikis, blogs, etc.) in asynchronous learning environments. 
  • Experience with screen/video capture tools like Captivate.
  • Experience using Blackboard Learn, Moodle, and/or Canvas. 
  • Experience using Kaltura, or other video platforms. 
  • Video production experience. 
  • Understanding of adult and asynchronous learning theory. 
  • Background or education in the arts. 
  • Experience with many of the following applications: MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, GarageBand, Audacity, Audio Hijack, HandBrake, screen capture tools such as Apple Preview, and Respondus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with faculty of varying ranks from different disciplines and with different levels of experience teaching in an online environment.
